Dr Brian Symon has been a family physician since 1978. He lives in Adelaide where his practice has now evolved to be almost exclusively about sleep and the care of young children. Problems reviewed generally revolve around sleep, feeding and behaviour in children up to about the age of five years.
All four of his own children have left home and Dr Symon and his wife spend time visiting them and their current five grandchildren in various states of Australia and countries of the world.
Welcome to Silent Nights
Few sounds are more disconcerting than that of a crying infant unable to go to sleep.

Thanks for visiting the site. I hope that it helps you and your family. Looking after families with young children is a passion and a pleasure for me. To see the joy that a family achieves when things go well is a constant privilege. Some parents come to see me with major, debilitating problems. It is not rare to have mums come in who have been up 5-10 times per night for weeks or months or sometimes years. These problems impact upon every member of the family and every relationship in the family. The extended family and friends are often involved as well. A constant theme from patients coming for the first visit is the huge variety of advice that exists in this field. It lacks consistency and there is often an overlay of emotion.
The strategies recommended here are evidence based, researched and proven to be effective. Feel free to use the content as you see fit. A range of free resources and print outs has been provided. There is also an area where parents can write about their experiences.
To see a child grow and thrive is truly one of life's most rewarding experiences. All the very best with your family.
A final word should come from a patient. Over the years only two children have written to me. Lots of mums but only two children. The most recent letter contained the following gem. "It's not right that Dr Symon tells grown ups kids secrets."
Best wishes
Dr Brian Symon
